Advanced Manufacturing Institute Expands Bioprocessing Team

(Manhattan, Kan. January 25, 2007) – Sigifredo Castro has joined the Advanced Manufacturing Institute as a bioprocessing engineer. Castro will be responsible for identifying new biobased products and processing opportunities for development and commercialization.

Castro has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the National University of Colombia in Bogota, Colombia, as well as a master’s and doctorate degree in chemical engineering from K-State, where he has served as an instructor in the chemical engineering department. He is also working towards a second master’s degree in biochemistry.

"We are delighted to have Sigifredo join our team” said Brad Kramer, director of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute. “His broad knowledge and experience will be instrumental as we continue to grow our bioprocessing services and focus our efforts on recovering valuable products from waste streams.”
